My lovely Cousin has an equally lovely husband who turned 50 recently. As we had to transport the cake from Dublin to Birmingham, England I was wary of making the original cake we had planned – an Oscar. He got this, a clapper board, instead.
The cake was double iced in fondant for that ultra smooth look and the ‘reel’ is made from gumpaste.
Also, I have to be completely honest. My lovely husbad, who has been watching me make cakes for two years made this cake from scratch. I was up to my eyes and ears with orders so he took over For a first time cake maker I think he did well. Very well.
