Every year myself and Bernie have the honour of making the ‘Guess How Many Smarties’ cake for our sons school.  This year we went with a monster jumping out of a ballpit and capturing one of the students.  The cake/monster is a lime Madeira sponge, two of them in fact, covered in a light buttercream before being recovered with green fondant.  The boy is made from modelling paste and and the smarties?  Well, I can now tell you there were 508 in total.
